There is a great deal of noise in this part of the industry. The honest position is that AI and robotics are very good at a narrow set of tasks — watching a large empty area for movement, covering repetitive ground overnight, reading plates, flagging an anomaly — and poor at everything that requires judgement about people.

We deploy these tools where that division of labour holds. Analytics and autonomous units handle the coverage and the tedium; a trained human decides what an event means and what to do about it. Every alert that leads to action is verified by an operator first, because a system that dispatches on its own confidence is a system that will eventually dispatch on nothing.
